Dear fellow Quilters,
We thought that you may like to know about our Quilt SOS Exhibition that has begun at the Liberty of London store last weekend.
We have recently been working with the charity SOS Children’s Villages on a brand new project called Quilt SOS. For those of you who don’t know, this project aims to provide quilts to orphaned children living within one of their villages in Romania. Alice Caroline Garrett was the inspiration behind the project and is now delighted to announce that the quilts, made by her customers, will be on display at the famous Liberty of London store.
Around 35 quilts made with Liberty fabric will be on display in the Liberty of London store from Saturday 24th September - Thursday 20th October as part of a one off special exhibition before the quilts find their final loving homes with the Romanian orphans in time for Christmas.
We have been completely overwhelmed with the generosity of the Alice Caroline customers - they have given their time to make some simply wonderful quilts for the Romanian orphans. I am really pleased that Liberty have agreed to have these on display in their store for all to see. We have been truly inspired by some of the quilt designs that have been delivered to the studio. It has been like Christmas every day unwrapping another beautiful quilt. We have so much in our lives that we sometimes forget that there are people in the world who have virtually nothing. We have loved working on this project and really feel like it will make a difference to those children’s lives.
Alice Caroline Quilt SOS Exhibition dates: Saturday 24th September - Thursday 20th October and can be found at the Haberdashery department during normal Liberty store opening hours. If you are in London, please do go and take a look.
We have also set up a Just Giving page for donations for our cause - you can find the link here https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/QuiltSOSAlice-Caroline. Donations will go towards helping the children with ongoing therapy, a scholar to help with educational needs as well as artwork supplies for Alice to take out to Romania when she delivers the quilts to the children.
